Getting Involved

For Students

Dear Students,

Interested in getting involved in an exciting new initiative led by various healthcare professions students at the University of Toronto?! If so, then read on!

Over the past 2.5 years, a group of students from various health professions at the University of Toronto have been eagerly developing IMAGINE (Interprofessional Medical and Allied Groups for Improving Neighbourhood Environment).

This initiative includes three facets:

  1. IMAGINE has partnered with CTCHC-Queen West (Queen West Community Health Centre), located in Toronto, to provide hassle-free health care services through the IMAGINE Clinic. We are currently recruiting volunteers for this.
  2. IMAGINE has partnered with St. Christopher House: The Meeting Place, a Toronto adult drop-in centre, to provide health promotion workshops to the homeless population served within this community.
  3. IMAGINE has developed relationships with several individuals, services and health centres within the downtown core to gain invaluable knowledge about working with the underserved population.

We are now recruiting students from various health care programs for the positions of *Clinic Volunteer* (#1 above).

Specifically, the following UofT students are eligible to apply for this volunteer position:

Please see the Volunteer Application Form for detailed information about volunteer expectations for the position and to apply.

Completed applications should be returned to the Volunteer Recruitment Committee via email at imagine.volunteers@gmail.com by *December 23rd 2009*.

For Professionals

If you are a licensed, practising health professional and have an interest in teaching and community health, please contact our Preceptor Recruitment chairs. We are looking for preceptors who may be able to provide insight on community outreach, clinic setup, professional scope and financial advice in order to further our endeavour. In the future, we will also be searching for preceptors to supervise and provide guidance to undergraduate students in their fields in routine clinical activities.

As an entirely student-run initiative, we are looking for ongoing and single-sum sources of funding to help us sustain our community involvement via educational workshops and introduction of clinical services. For additional details, please contact our Fundraising team.
